History

Sword Of The Spirit Christian Church was founded in obedience to the call of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit in Pastor Daniel T. Peace, Sr. & The Peace Family to provide salvation, healing, deliverance, guidance, fellowship, worship and sanctuary for everyone desiring to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Our first worship services were held at 25 Glenn Road, East Hartford, CT, in the home of the Peace Family on Feb 13,1994.  We were soon joined by the Franklin and Jackson families.  The picture above is after our first Sunday School Service on March 6, 1994.  On April 7, 1994 we were incorporated and by the end of the year we were granted tax exemption by the federal and state government.   Bible studies were held in various families homes in Manchester, New Britain and Cromwell. By the fall of 1995 attendance was outstripping our ability to continue to meet in homes and the need for a meeting facility was clear.  After months of searching the Holy Spirit led us to the Open Hearth

The Open Hearth Mission over 150 years old in the center of Hartford, a residential program for men allowed us to use their chapel for worship services and bible studies. This allowed us to minister to the men and do counseling and outreach as needed.  In the fall of 1999 we moved to our present location.

Our present location at 135 Burnside Ave.  East Hartford, CT  06108-3421

Our original website http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/6511/ was the first church website in Connecticut. It originally was posted on Dec. 8,1995 and hosted by Starbase21 but for archival sake we have moved it to Geocities. It truly reflects early cyberspace design with a Christian Star Wars theme.
